In the humming heart of a Japanese game centre, a claw machine blazes like a small universe, stuffed with bears, clown plushies 🤡, candy creatures, chocolate charms, and pixel mascots.
But in the middle sits the prize that feels different: Hikari-hime, a golden-haired princess plush crowned in light.
 
From across the arcade, Arata sees her, and his eyes spark into classic manga wonder.
He runs. He plays. He pours coin after coin into the machine, chasing the centre like it’s destiny.
And every time he gets close… the world interrupts.
A bump. A spill. A laugh too loud.
The claw returns with everything except the crown.
Until the final coin.
The final try.
And the machine jams, freezing hope mid-air.
Arata walks away, defeated, leaving a pile of won plushies behind like abandoned tenderness.

Rin runs to Arata and places the princess in his hands.

It was for his little sister Nozomi, ill at home, waiting for light.
