Until one day
a great wave rose like destiny
and shattered everything he knew.
His shell broke.
His safety crumbled.
He lay bare upon the sand, trembling,
afraid to be seen, afraid to exist.
But then,
in the distance,
a fossil shell ancient as time
glowed faintly with golden spirals.
